Online Submission Guidelines

OPEN JOURNAL SYSTEM (OJS) FOR AUTHOR

I. ACCESS

To access online journals developed using OJS (Open Journal System), users must first be registered in the e-journal system according to their respective roles. The role for the author of articles in e-journals is called AUTHOR.

II. DOCUMENT SETUP

Before uploading articles through the e-journal application, there are several things to note about documents:

1. Ensure that the document layout is in accordance with the author's guidelines (Author Guide) which has been determined by the journal manager. 

2. Uploaded documents should be in Ms. Words for make it easier for the journal editorial team to carry out the editorial process (review, proof reading, editing, etc.)

3. Ensure the "property" of Ms. Word is filled in correctly

4. For reference, add the URL or website address of the reference if there is for the citation process

5. To keep the uploaded file size not exceeding the specified limit set (2 MB), there are several things that can be done: 

a) Resize the image using the image editor (eg, Adobe Photoshop, Ms. Paint, Ms. Word, etc.) Example of compressing an image using MS. Wor

  • Click image
  • Select Format compress picture

  • Then the following dialog box will appear:

  • Select Screen (150 ppi): good for web pages and projectors
  • Then the file capacity will change.

b) If you are going to make a copy from another document or website, use Notepad intermediary to confirm the style of the document as long as it is not copied.

III. REGISTRATION

a. Users can register independently in the e-journal system.

b. Users can be registered into the e-journal system by the journal manager (JOURNAL MANAGER).

IV. SELF REGISTRATION

a. Go to the Legal Arena e-journal url address (http://arenahukum.ub.ac.id/)

b. On the main menu select "Register"

c. On the "Register" menu, fill in the form with the appropriate data

Description:

  1. In the Confirmation column put a check mark Send me a confirmation email including my username and password, for automatically send username and password to email has been registered.
  2. In the Registered as column, check the option as Author: Able to submit items to the journal.
  3. Click Register for the final registration process.

V. ARTICLE SUBMISSION (ARTICLE REGISTRATION)

a. Open the address of the legal arena journal (http://arenahukum.ub.ac.id/)

b. Login to the e-journal system, according to the user's role as AUTHOR

c. Type the username and password according to the registration that has been done Then Click Login.

d. After successful login, the following screen will appear:

e. Select New Submission

f. Then the registration steps page will appear

  1. Step 1. Starting the submission
  • Check all in the Submission Checklist column

  • Fill in the Comments for Editor column if needed for send a message to the editor.
  • Select save and continue

Step 2. Uploading the Submission

  • Select choose file to select the file to be uploaded. Once the file has been selected, click upload. Files uploaded successfully from computer to the e-journal application will be renamed files automatically by the journal system following journal conventions.

           WARNING:

  1. The file format must be .doc or .docx. and no more than 2 MB.
  2. It is requested that the uploaded journal file does not provide information related to the author's biodata, because the file will sent to reviewers.

  • After the file has been uploaded successfully select save and continue

Step 3. Entering the Submission's Metadata 

  • Fill in the original bio. Fill in all forms (fill in with the * sign is mandatory or must be filled in)

Title: Description of the article title. To copy paste the title of the article, must be copied and pasted in notepad first so that the word format is not copied also

Abstract: Description abstract. To copy paste abstract, must be copied and pasted in notepad first first so that the word format is not copied too 

  • After filling in the title and abstract fields, click Save and Continue: to continue to the next session.

Step 4. Uploading Supplementary  Files

Stage 4 is used if there are additional supporting files article. Support files can be:

  • Research instruments
  • Data Sets
  • Tables and figures that cannot be integrated with text

Step 5. Confirming The Submission

This section is used for final confirmation of the fields in the previous steps. If the author has checked the contents in the previous steps, then click "Finish Submission" to end the article submission step. Articles will automatically be saved in the e-journal application and ready for further processing in the editorial process.

Then the following display will appear:

Select Active Submissions. Then the file has been successfully activated on system.

VI. Submission Status

  • To find out the status of articles that have been submitted via e-journal application, authors can login to the e-journal application.
  • On the "USER HOME" menu select the "AUTHOR" role

  • The “ACTIVE SUBMISSION” display appears in the table, there are 2 sub menu:

Description:

“ACTIVE” to find a list of articles that have been uploaded and status.

“ARCHIVE” to find a list of articles that have been processed and its final state.

Author Status

Description:

“Awaiting Assignment”: in this process, the author is still waiting article editing process

“In Review”: in this process, the article is in the review process stage by Peer-review.
