The issue of child labour in Indonesian labour law is nothing new. However, children who work in the entertainment industry, or the so-called child artist, have never been seen as a social problem. Yet, many of the parents of these child artist make their children as a source of lucrative source of income by utilizing the talents and and interests possessed by their children. Not to mention the bitter fact that many these child artists have to give up education, time to play and rest, because of their busy work in the entertainment industry. Can this be categorized as a form of child exploitation, especially economic exploitation? This research discuss the legal protection of child artist in Indonesia, as well as the comparison with the United States.
